Terms and Conditions for Applicants

  1. Introduction

    By applying for admission to Nyahururu Medical Training College (hereinafter referred to as "the College"), you agree to comply with the following Terms and Conditions. These govern your relationship with the College during the application process, admission, enrollment, and study period.

  2. Eligibility and Admission

    Admission is open to applicants who meet the minimum academic qualifications as set by:

    1. The College, and
    2. The relevant regulatory bodies, including the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), and/or other statutory authorities.

    Submission of false, incomplete, or misleading information will lead to automatic disqualification or termination of admission without refund.

    Admission into the College is not guaranteed until:

    1. The applicant receives a formal admission letter, and
    2. All required fees are paid within the stipulated timelines.
  3. Course Registration

    Students must register for their courses within the registration period communicated by the College.

    Late registration may attract a penalty fee.

    The College reserves the right to:

    1. Cancel or postpone a course,
    2. Merge classes where necessary, or
    3. Adjust the mode of delivery (physical, online, blended learning).
  4. Fees and Payment

    Tuition and other charges must be paid in full or in approved instalments before commencement of training.

    All payments must be made to the official College accounts; the College will not be liable for payments made to unauthorized persons.

    Fees once paid are non-refundable, except in cases where:

    1. The College cancels the course, or
    2. The applicant is denied admission after meeting all requirements.

    Outstanding balances may lead to:

    1. Denial of access to classes, examinations, or College facilities,
    2. Withholding of academic results and transcripts.
  5. Academic Regulations

    Students must attend the required minimum percentage of classes, clinical rotations, and practical sessions as prescribed by the College and regulatory authorities.

    Continuous assessment tests (CATs), practicals, and final examinations must be undertaken as scheduled.

    Academic dishonesty (including cheating, plagiarism, impersonation) will lead to disciplinary action, which may include suspension or expulsion.

  6. Code of Conduct and Discipline

    Students are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, professionalism, and respect within and outside the College premises.

    Acts of indiscipline including but not limited to:

    1. Substance abuse,
    2. Violence,
    3. Harassment (including sexual harassment), or
    4. Breach of College regulations,

    will be subject to disciplinary proceedings in line with College policies.

    The College reserves the right to suspend or expel students found in violation of the Code of Conduct.

  7. Use of College Facilities

    Students must use College facilities responsibly. Damage to property due to negligence or misconduct will attract penalties.

    Access to laboratories, libraries, and clinical training sites will only be granted to registered students who comply with safety and operational guidelines.

  8. Health and Safety

    Students are required to undergo medical examination(s) as may be prescribed by the College before admission and/or during the course.

    Students must comply with all health and safety regulations while on campus or during clinical placements.

    The College is not liable for personal injury or loss of property unless arising from proven negligence by the institution.

  9. Accommodation and Welfare

    Where provided, College accommodation is subject to separate hostel regulations and availability.

    Students residing off-campus are required to provide updated contact details and adhere to College welfare policies.

  10. Withdrawal and Deferral

    A student intending to withdraw or defer studies must apply in writing to the Registrar/Academic Office.

    Deferrals may only be approved once and for valid reasons (medical, financial, or other as determined by the College).

    Unauthorised absence for one academic year or more will result in automatic deregistration.

  11. Certificates and Transcripts

    Academic transcripts, results, or certificates will only be issued to students who have:

    1. Cleared all academic requirements, and
    2. Settled all financial obligations with the College.

    Replacement of lost certificates will follow the procedures and fees set by the College and/or relevant examination bodies.

  12. Limitation of Liability

    The College will make reasonable efforts to deliver courses as advertised but does not guarantee uninterrupted services due to factors beyond its control (including strikes, pandemics, or government directives).

    The College shall not be liable for indirect losses such as loss of income, opportunities, or career prospects arising from delays, cancellations, or academic performance.

  13. Amendments to Terms

    The College reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions as necessary. Updated terms will be published on the College notice boards and official website, and students will be deemed to have accepted them by continuing their enrolment.

  14. Governing Law

    These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Kenya and subject to the jurisdiction of Kenyan courts.
