Nyahururu Medical Training College (NMTC) has successfully held its 3rd Graduation Ceremony, on 14th November 2025, a landmark event that celebrated the transition of 1,289 graduates into various fields of Kenya’s healthcare sector. The ceremony brought together government representatives, healthcare leaders, faculty, alumni, families, and friends in a momentous gathering that reaffirmed NMTC’s growing national impact.

Graduates were conferred with diplomas and certificates across key health disciplines, including Clinical Medicine, Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Peri-Operative Theatre Technology, Community Health and Development, Health Records and Information Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Orthopaedics and Trauma Medicine, and Healthcare Assistance.

Leaders Emphasize Professionalism, Humanity, and Lifelong Learning

Speaking during the event, the Director of Academics encouraged graduates to uphold NMTC’s motto—“Entrusting healthcare to safe hands”—as they begin their professional journey. He highlighted the importance of compassion, integrity, and continuous learning, reminding graduands that medicine is both an art and a science, practiced through humanity.

Quoting Steve Jobs’ famous commencement speech: “Stay hungry. Stay foolish,” the Director inspired graduates to remain ambitious, curious, and open to innovation as the healthcare landscape continues to evolve.

Chief Guest Calls for Legal Education and Institutional Expansion

A key highlight of the ceremony was the Chief Guest’s insightful address on laws governing healthcare practice. He emphasized the need for healthcare workers to understand the legal frameworks, responsibilities, and ethical obligations that guide their profession. He urged NMTC to introduce a specialized course on Medical and Health Law, noting its critical role in protecting both practitioners and patients.

The Chief Guest also encouraged the institution to expand its footprint by considering the establishment of:
• An NMTC Teaching Hospital, and
• A future NMTC University

These proposals were well received, signaling a new era of growth for the college.

Outstanding Students Recognized

During the ceremony, NMTC awarded top-performing students for exceptional academic and practical excellence. The institution’s most prestigious honour, the FMK Leadership Award, was presented to John Mburu for exemplary leadership, discipline, and service to the NMTC community.

Supporting Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC)

The graduation comes at a critical time as Kenya accelerates the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). NMTC continues to play a central role in strengthening the nation’s health workforce by producing skilled, ethical, and job-ready professionals capable of delivering high-quality care across diverse communities.
